I wrote a blog on this subject early in 2011, but it needs to be mentioned again. So here is an updated version. Everyone is excited that the Dow Jones broke a record again. But here are some things to remember…

One of my readers couldn’t believe that “They don’t pay me enough” was a good enough reason to steal. Not only is it a common rationalization in these tough economic times, but it happens to all types of businesses.

Transparency. We hear about it at work, in the stock market, in baseball little league. What is all the fuss about? Why is it so important?

We need to talk about how these companies are going to keep surviving. Are they going to stay at their current size with internal management buying the company or are they going to be purchased by large firms?

Can you operate your business and not use KPI Key Performance Indicators?

A company traditionally uses the costing method to accumulate direct materials, direct labor and overhead cost. When large companies were losing business because they did not set the correct selling price, they started to look at things differently.

Invest in your employees. They can take you to the next level. Treat employees with respect, pay a good salary, supply good benefits and show them that you care about them.

One of the biggest misconceptions is that if you pay the interest on your line of credit each month you are credit worthy. Sorry, but you can pay your monthly interest bill each month and still not be credit worthy.
