Chapter 4 p.82 – 100

People Reading: Emotional Intelligence

This relates more to what triggers your emotions.

Self-awareness is key to this chapter but this is easier said than done.  Self-awareness acknowledges the good and bad, strong and weak inside you.

Some of my favorite sentences are “You can think yourself into another emotional state if you understand how to self-regulate” p. 85.

The email story on p.85 from Sterner Insurance Agency explains it all.

I also re-read my emails and ask myself if I have taken the emotion out of emails?  Did I stick to the facts?

  1. 89 I like the Buddhist story, my spin on this is if you feel down with yourself, help someone else.

Tying Together – People Reading

Page 101 is a must read page as someone explains how people reading has helped her in her job.

There are several real life stories and then a Practice Reading Grid for Meetings(p.110).  Meetings are probably the most important time to people read.  You can also do it if you get bored.
