Storytelling

What stories do you tell?  I see this as more of an awareness exercise.  I don’t think people are aware of how they sound to others. Once you become aware of how you sound you can adjust the way you speak to others and you can see positive results.

Chapter 9 p. 191-218

When Conflict Stops Progress: Creating More Effective Conversations that Lead to Resolution

This chapter returns to the DISC Dominant, Influencer, Steady, Compliant.

Ask yourself, “Who needs to change?”

p.195 answer this question

“Since Tamara wants a change in their relationship, she is the one who needs to adapt to his preferred communication style.”

p.197 has another grid Characteristic Communication Style Tendencies.

I personally like to put names next to each style, but then you have to make sure no one sees the names.

Shawn says Fear is why people do not resolve conflict.  Fear paralyzes many things in your life including communication.

More tables on p.198-201

Conflict in the workplace sucks the time out of your day. It poisons the atmosphere in your office so it is best to deal with it on a more permanent basis.
