Chapter 8 – The Flywheel and the Doom Loop
“…What was the one big push that cause this thing to go so fast.” P.165 We always want to boil it down to the one answer, the one thing that went right or wrong. We normally can’t do that there are too many variables.
“The good-to-great companies were subject to the same short-term pressures from Wall Street as the comparison companies. Yet, unlike the comparison companies, they had the patience and discipline to follow the buildup-breakthrough, flywheel model despite these pressures,. And in the end, they attained extraordinary results by Wall Street’s own measure of success. “ p.173
The flywheel builds momentum and the doom loop crashes into apathy. “Disappointing results, reaction without understanding , new direction, program, leader FAD or acquisition , no buildup no accumulated momentum.” P.179
